Skylight Installation in Marietta, GA That Doesn't Leak
Skylights have a reputation for leaking. That reputation comes from cheap units installed with caulk instead of flashing. A properly installed VELUX skylight on an asphalt shingle roof in Cobb County will go decades without a drop of water inside. The difference is the brand and the install.
We're VELUX certified and we install nothing else. The 10-year no-leak warranty only applies to certified installs. So that's what we do.
The Skylights We Install Most in Marietta Homes
Fixed deck-mount skylights
The simplest, cleanest, longest-lasting option. Tempered Low-E glass, no opening hardware, lowest cost. Perfect for hallways, stairwells, and rooms where you just want light.
Manual or solar-powered vented skylights
Open and close to release attic and room heat. Solar-powered models charge themselves and qualify for the 30% federal solar tax credit. We install these in kitchens and primary baths constantly.
Sun tunnels
For interior rooms with no exterior wall, like a hallway or a closet. A 10 or 14 inch reflective tube channels daylight from the roof down to a ceiling diffuser. Less than half the cost of a full skylight and less impact on the roof framing.
How a Real Skylight Install Works
Site visit and feasibility
We measure the room, look at the attic and roof, and confirm the location works without cutting structural rafters. We talk through size, model, and whether you want vented or fixed.
Cut, frame, and install
We cut the roof opening, frame the rough opening to manufacturer spec, install the unit with the matching VELUX flashing kit specific to your shingle type, and weave new shingles around the curb so the seam is invisible.
Build the light shaft and finish drywall
Most skylights need a shaft built down through the attic to the ceiling. We frame, drywall, mud, and prime so it's ready for paint when we leave.
What Skylight Installation Costs in Cobb County
Fixed VELUX skylights run $1,800 to $3,500 installed depending on size, location, and shaft complexity. Vented and solar-powered models run $2,500 to $5,000. Sun tunnels are $900 to $1,800. Adding a remote-controlled shade is roughly $400 per unit. The 30% federal solar tax credit applies to solar-powered models including the install labor.
Best Time to Add a Skylight is During a Re-Roof
If you're already getting a new roof, the marginal cost of adding a skylight is much lower because we're already in the right spot with the right tools. We do this constantly on Cobb County re-roofs. Worth asking about even if you weren't planning on it.
