Siding Repair in Marietta, GA
Siding repair is mostly about catching small problems before they become wall-cavity problems. A cracked board, a section pulled loose by wind, a gap where caulk has failed: each one is a path for water to get behind the siding and into the sheathing. The siding itself isn't the expensive part of fixing this. The wall structure rotting behind it is.
We do siding repair across Marietta, GA and Cobb County. Targeted board replacement, color matching, caulk and trim work, and rot remediation when we find it.
The Most Common Siding Repairs
Cracked or split boards
Impact damage, settling, or freeze-thaw cycles can crack siding boards. We replace the affected board, color-match to the surrounding field, and re-caulk the joints.
Wind damage and pulled-loose sections
Vinyl is most prone to this; high wind catches the bottom edge of a course and pops it free. We re-secure with proper fasteners and check the surrounding courses for the same issue.
Failed caulking around windows, doors, and trim
Caulk has a 5 to 10 year service life. Once it cracks or pulls back, water gets behind the siding at the trim joint. We pull the failed caulk, clean the joint, and apply proper polyurethane or modified silicone caulk depending on substrate.
Damaged corner trim and J-channel
Corner pieces and J-channel get hit by ladders, weed-eaters, or animals. We replace damaged sections and tie back into the surrounding siding cleanly.
Rotted wood siding and trim
Older homes with painted wood siding eventually have spots that rot through. We cut out the affected wood, treat the framing behind, and either patch with new wood (if the homeowner wants to keep wood) or replace the section with Hardie or LP for a longer-lasting fix.
Woodpecker and animal damage
Woodpeckers especially love wood and softer engineered siding. We patch holes, replace damaged sections, and discuss strategies to prevent recurrence.
Color Matching and Why It Matters
A siding repair that doesn't blend stands out worse than the original damage. We carry color-matched paint and stain for current and recently-discontinued Hardie ColorPlus, LP SmartSide, and major vinyl brands. For older or fully discontinued colors, we color-match by sample. For sections that can't be matched perfectly, we sometimes pull from a hidden wall and use that as the matched material on the visible wall, then patch the hidden wall with the closest current color.
What We Do When We Find Hidden Damage
Sometimes we pull a damaged board and find soft sheathing or rotted framing behind it. We stop, photograph, and call you to discuss before continuing. The fix usually involves replacing the affected sheathing, treating any framing damage, installing fresh WRB, and then putting siding back on. We give a written change-order quote before doing this work so there are no surprises on the invoice.
What Siding Repair Costs in Cobb County
Most single-spot board replacements run $200 to $700. Larger sections (multiple boards, wall-corner repairs, or full sides) run $800 to $4,000+. Caulking refresh on a typical home runs $400 to $900. Sheathing or framing repair behind damaged siding adds material cost based on findings.
When Repair Doesn't Make Sense
If the siding is past its service life, multiple sections are failing simultaneously, or the discontinued product can't be matched, repair starts to look like throwing money at a system that needs replacement. We'll tell you straight when that's the case rather than keep selling repairs.
