Gutter Guard Installation in Marietta, GA
If you've ever climbed a ladder in October to scoop wet pine straw out of your gutters, you already know why gutter guards exist. Cobb County has heavy tree cover. Pines, oaks, sweetgums, and maples drop debris year-round. Without guards, most homes need their gutters cleaned twice a year. With the right guard system, that drops to once every several years and never to handle a clog.
We install micro-mesh gutter guards across Marietta, GA and the rest of Cobb County. Backed by manufacturer warranty plus our workmanship guarantee.
The Four Types of Gutter Guards (and Which Ones Actually Work)
Micro-mesh stainless steel (what we install)
A fine stainless steel mesh stretched across an aluminum frame. The mesh is fine enough to block oak tassels and pine needles while letting water through. Lasts the life of the gutter. This is what we install because it actually works in heavy-tree neighborhoods.
Reverse-curve (helmet style)
A solid cover with a curved nose that water clings to and follows into the gutter while debris falls past. Works in moderate debris areas. Tends to overshoot in heavy rain because the curve has a maximum flow rate. Pine needles and small debris can still find their way under the cover.
Plastic screen
Cheap plastic snap-in screens. UV-degrades in 2 to 3 years and warps. Pine needles weave through the holes and the screen becomes a permanent debris mat that water can't penetrate. We don't install these.
Foam inserts
Foam shoved into the gutter cavity. Water passes through, debris stays on top. Sounds clever, fails completely. Debris breaks down on top of the foam, mixes with the foam, and the whole gutter becomes a planter for moss and small weeds. We don't install these and we strip them out for customers who inherited them.
Why Micro-Mesh Wins in Cobb County
The mesh holes are smaller than a pine needle's diameter. Pine needles, oak tassels, sweetgum balls, helicopter seeds: all blocked. The aluminum frame is robust enough to walk on without crushing (though we don't recommend walking on them). The stainless steel mesh doesn't rust, doesn't UV-degrade, and doesn't lose flow rate over time. The system carries a 25-year manufacturer warranty.
What's Involved in Installation
Gutter cleaning first
Every linear foot gets cleaned to bare metal before the guards go on. Putting guards over a clogged gutter just hides the problem.
Gutter pitch and hanger check
We verify the gutters drain properly and that hangers are tight. Address any sag or pitch issues before the guards go on.
Guard installation
The micro-mesh guards screw into the front lip of the gutter and slide under the first course of shingles at the back. No exposed fasteners, no caulking, no warranty-voiding modifications to your roof.
Downspout flush
We flush every downspout to confirm flow before we leave. Any clogged downspouts get cleared as part of the install.
What Gutter Guard Installation Costs in Cobb County
Quality micro-mesh runs $8 to $14 per linear foot installed. A typical Cobb County home with 200 feet of gutter runs $1,600 to $2,800. Bundled with new gutter installation, the per-foot cost drops because we're already at the gutter with the right tools.
What Gutter Guards Won't Do
They won't eliminate occasional gutter cleaning entirely. Fine debris (asphalt grit, pollen, dust) still settles on top of the mesh. Most micro-mesh systems need a brush-off or hose rinse every 3 to 5 years to keep flow rates at peak. They won't fix existing gutter problems either; sagging gutters or undersized downspouts need to be addressed first.
