New gutters should be planned around how water moves.
Gutters do their job only when the whole system is thought through. The roof sends water to the gutter, the gutter sends water to the downspout, and the downspout has to send water away from the structure.
Woodstock homes often have rooflines under trees, long back slopes, porch additions, and valleys that concentrate water into a small section. Those details affect gutter layout.
What a good installation includes
A good gutter install includes correct sizing, stable hangers, proper slope, sealed corners, downspout placement, end caps, splash or extension planning, and a review of the fascia behind the system.
Coordinate with other exterior work
If the roof, fascia, siding, or paint is also being repaired, gutter installation should be sequenced so new gutters are not installed over damaged materials or removed immediately for another trade.
